The questions people actually ask
FAQs
-
Somatic sexology is a body-based approach to sexuality, intimacy, and wellbeing. It works with the premise that your experiences of pleasure, desire, shame, and connection don't just live in your mind - they live in your nervous system. Rather than only talking about these things, we work with the body directly: through breathwork, movement, mindfulness, and embodied awareness. The goal isn't to fix you. It's to help you get genuinely curious about yourself.
-
No. All sessions at The Pleasure Paradox are non-touch. Everything is done through conversation, guided practices, breathwork, and embodied exercises that you do yourself. Consent and clear boundaries are foundational to every session - nothing happens without your full, informed agreement.
-
Most sessions are available online via Zoom - which means you can access this work from anywhere. In-person sessions are available in Coffs Harbour, NSW, for select offerings (including the Erotic Mind Map). The Shibari experience is available in-person only, by enquiry.
-
Sessions with The Pleasure Paradox are not eligible for Medicare rebate or private health cover. Pricing has been set with accessibility in mind. If cost is a genuine barrier, reach out - let's have an honest conversation about what's possible.
-
Not at all. People come to this work for all kinds of reasons - some with a specific challenge (performance anxiety, pain during sex, desire discrepancy, recovering from trauma), and some simply with a quiet sense that something could be different. Curiosity is enough. You don't need to arrive with a diagnosis or a problem statement.
-
No. Somatic sex coaching and education is distinct from psychotherapy or clinical counselling. While it draws on psychological principles and trauma-informed frameworks, it is not a therapeutic or medical service. If you are currently experiencing acute mental health challenges, I'd recommend working alongside a registered psychologist or therapist - I'm happy to discuss what the right combination of support might look like for you.
-
Completely. Most people feel some nerves before a first session - this is intimate territory, and it takes courage to show up for it. The free 15-minute discovery call exists precisely for this reason: to have a low-stakes conversation before you commit to anything. There's no pressure, no judgement, and no wrong questions.
-
It depends entirely on what you're working with and what you want to explore. Some people come for a one-off session (like the Erotic Mind Map) and find that's exactly what they needed. Others engage in longer bundles of 5 or 10 sessions for deeper, sustained work. We'll talk through what makes sense for you during the discovery call - no commitment required before then.
-
Please provide at least 48 hours notice if you need to reschedule or cancel. Late cancellations (under 24 hours) or no-shows may be charged at the full session rate. Life happens - if something comes up, just get in touch as early as possible and we'll work it out.

"Working with Claire was the first time I'd ever really been asked what I want. Not just in sex - in everything. I left with more questions than answers, and somehow that felt exactly right."
"I came in thinking we just needed to 'communicate better.' What we actually needed was someone to hold space while we said the real things out loud. Claire did that. It changed everything."
"I've done therapy. I've done the self-help books. Nothing touched what this did. Working in the body - not just the mind - was the missing piece I didn't know I was looking for."
You don't need to have it all figured out.
You only need to be willing to get curious. Book a free 15-minute discovery call. No pressure, no sales script - just an honest conversation about what's possible for you, and whether we're the right fit to explore it together. Claire takes a limited number of new clients each month.
